Cookie Policy
Effective date: 26 June 2026 · Last reviewed: 2026-06-26
This Cookie Policy explains how RoastLab Inc. ("RoastLab," "we," "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on roastlab.life (the "Site"). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy. By using the Site and interacting with our cookie consent banner, you acknowledge the practices described here according to the preferences you select.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember actions and preferences (such as cookie consent choices) over a period of time. Similar technologies include local storage entries and session identifiers that serve comparable functions.
Cookies may be "first-party" (set by RoastLab) or "third-party" (set by a service we embed). They may also be "session" cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or "persistent" cookies (remain until they expire or you delete them).
2. How we use cookies
RoastLab uses cookies for three broad purposes: essential operation, functional preferences, and aggregated analytics. We do not use cookies to deliver third-party advertising on the Site. We do not sell cookie-derived data to brokers or unrelated marketers.
3. Cookie categories
Essential cookies are necessary for the Site to function and cannot be switched off through our banner. They include the consent storage cookie that records your cookie preferences so we do not ask on every visit.
Functional cookies remember choices that improve your experience, such as navigation state or form-related preferences. These are optional and only activated when you accept functional cookies or choose "Accept all."
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Site by collecting aggregated, anonymised usage statistics — for example, which programme pages receive the most views and average session duration. Analytics cookies are optional and require your consent.
4. Cookies we set
The following table describes cookies commonly used on roastlab.life:
- rl_cookie_consent — First-party persistent cookie. Stores your cookie consent choices (analytics and functional flags) as JSON. Duration: six months from the date of consent. Category: essential for consent management; stores preferences for optional categories.
- Analytics identifiers — If analytics are enabled, we may set first-party or third-party session cookies to distinguish unique visits without directly identifying individuals. Duration: session to thirteen months depending on provider configuration. Category: analytics (requires consent).
We review cookies periodically and update this list when our technology stack changes. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the latest review.
5. Consent management
When you first visit roastlab.life, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen offering three choices:
- Accept all — Enables functional and analytics cookies in addition to essential cookies;
- Reject all — Stores only essential cookies required for consent memory and basic operation;
- Customise — Opens a panel where you can toggle analytics and functional cookies individually before saving.
Your selection is stored in the rl_cookie_consent cookie for six months. After six months, the cookie expires and the banner will appear again so you may renew or change your preferences. You may change preferences at any time by clearing Site cookies in your browser and revisiting the Site, or by contacting [email protected] to request guidance.
6. Managing cookies in your browser
Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through settings. Instructions vary by browser and version — consult your browser's help documentation for steps. Blocking all cookies may prevent the consent banner from remembering your choice and could affect Site functionality.
Browser-level "Do Not Track" signals are not uniformly honoured across the industry. RoastLab respects the choices you make through our consent banner as the primary mechanism for optional cookies.
7. Third-party services
We load Outfit and Literata typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). Google may log IP addresses as part of font delivery. We selected Google Fonts for typographic consistency across programme pages. If we embed third-party analytics, those providers may set their own cookies subject to their privacy policies.
We assess third-party providers for reasonable privacy practices before integration and limit optional third-party cookies to analytics you explicitly accept through Accept all or Customise.
8. Relationship to PIPEDA
Cookie consent choices are processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and PIPEDA. Optional cookies that collect personal information or personal information equivalents require your affirmative consent before activation. Essential cookies that store only your consent decision operate on the basis of necessity to fulfil your request to browse the Site with remembered preferences.
9. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add features, change analytics providers, or respond to regulatory guidance. Changes take effect upon posting with an updated effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy for cookie practices not requiring renewed consent under applicable law.
